’ve lived on Vancouver Island my whole life, yet it wasn’t until I got into overlanding that I truly discovered its hidden beauty. The places I once only heard about in stories or saw in magazines suddenly became real — but most of them can’t be reached by ordinary means. They take planning, effort, and the right rig.

Every time I head out, I ask myself, How did we get so lucky to live here?

That’s why I decided to share my personal overland rig — the one that’s given me countless memories — so others can experience the Island beyond the typical tourist spots.

I moved from Vancouver ten years ago and never truly understood how special this island was — until I met Taylor. Through every adventure together, I fell more in love not just with him, but with Vancouver Island itself. From hidden beaches to misty mountain roads, each trip grounded us, brought us closer, and reminded us how wild and magical this place really is.
